Glenn was born and raised on a large cattle/grain farm in Central Missouri. He received a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1975. Upon graduation he began a 20 year career in the Grain Industry, primarily in Grain Export Operations. At the age of 29 he was the Manager of AGRIEXPORT, a 6.5 million bushel, 100,000 bu. / hr. export grain elevator in Houston, TX. It was here that Glenn realized the need for a superior truck scale. This facility at peak times handled over 500 semi tractor trailers of grain per day and as many as 300 railroad hopper cars. In the early 80’s, the scale industry was just cutting its teeth on electronic load cell type scales, replacing the mechanical lever system scales. The truck scale at the Houston facility was a scale that required check rods and bumper bolts in an attempt to keep the scale stable on top of canister load cells. Surprisingly, this type of scale is still being marketed today by some manufacturers. These scales just cannot stand up to the rigors of 500 trucks in and 500 trucks out a day. Glenn, had his head electrician go to scale school and obtain a certified license so to do a test check daily and recalibrate the scale if necessary. Being off just as little as 40 lbs. per unit could cost the company $3,000 per day because of a short weighing error. It was here that Glenn took an interest in the weighing industry. Fast forward to 1996 when Glenn had an opportunity to do consulting for a regional scale company in Omaha, NE while retaining his position of Facility Director for a large regional grain and cattle company. In 1998, Glenn launched Apollo Scales Ltd. with the idea of patenting a unique mounting system for truck scales he had designed. With assistance from HGM Engineering of Omaha, he designed and successfully obtained an NTEP for the very first 100,000 lb. dual axle rated truck scale in the World with a total capacity of 200,000 lb. His patent #6,177,639 issued in January 2001 is still the only truck scale mounting system that does not grind the load cell. This allows the Apollo ZEUS model truck scale to retain its accuracy regardless of severe truck movement on the scale, high temps that cause steel to expand and cold temps that cause the scale steel to shrink. All other scales move ever so slightly which can cause their calibration to be off. Fast forward another 22 years, and Apollo Scales Ltd has a history of building a superior truck scale that leads the industry in longevity. Every Apollo ZEUS truck scale is still in service today in the 34 States that these scales have been installed. Apollo Scales is so confident in the Heavy Duty Truck Scale that it designed and built that it offers the industry a full 20 Year Weighbridge Warranty. The competition doesn’t come close to matching this because their scale history says otherwise. Apollo Scales is proud to use the largest wide flange beam in the industry. The massive W24x117# Main Beam is as much 33 to 50+ lbs. heavier than what the competition uses. And Price…$$$..???...Give Apollo a chance to bid. You will be surprised at how competitive our scale is to the major manufactures of other truck scales. We don’t own corporate jets, nor lavish retreats in the mountains.

One of Apollo's primary method for sales is to install a truck scale in a new territory and let the truck scale sell itself. An Apollo Zeus 80'x14' was installed in Huron at a local agriculture business, located in the eastern part of South Dakota. It did not take long for Apollo to receive additional inquiries from within that region about the Apollo Zeus model. The result was a great expansion of our truck scale product within a small radius. Look below at the additional Apollo Zeus scales in the area and their locations. That is just one example of how Apollo Zeus has impacted a general area and made its mark in the weighing industry. These buyers called Apollo Scales. Make the the call (888-394-5006) and you too can see why these customers realized Apollo Scales and the Apollo Zeus truck scale are Built to Last a Lifetime.
