| In order to have a dependable, accurate scale, the foundation must be as good as the scale. We don't cut corners at Apollo. A typical 70' x 11' truck scale foundation will take up to 40 yards of concrete and a ton of rebar. The end piers are usually 5 feet wide, 4 feet deep and 14 feet across. This requires over 10 yards or 40,000 lbs. of concrete just each end pier. When we get finished, the foundation that supports the scale is not going anywhere. That is exactly what we want. We then place the heavy duty weighbridge on the foundation using the largest Wide Flange Beams in the Industry @ W24x117#. (That is a 24 inch high beam with a 12-3/4" wide flange weighing 117 lbs./ft.) This is the heaviest beam used by any truck scale manufacturer in the United States.
